Munia Islam Mozumder is a development professional with a passionate belief in every child’s right to an excellent education. Munia was born and raised in South Dhaka. She attended Jahangirnagar University where she studied Pharmacy at the undergraduate and Development Studies in the postgraduate level. She joined the Teach For Bangladesh Fellowship in 2015 and became a Class 3 teacher in Haji Yusuf Ali Government Primary School in Mirpur. After the Fellowship, she joined BRAC Kumon, helping to launch the program in Bangladesh, and subsequently relocated to Cox’s Bazar where she worked in the international education response to the Rohingya refugee crisis, first with Danchurch Aid and then with Save the Children, where she worked as the Sector Co-Lead, coordinating the international humanitarian response in education.
Munia holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership from BRAC University Institute of Education Development. She also studied Education Administration, Policy and Planning at Vanderbilt University in the United States, as a U.S. State Department Humphrey Fellow.
