In Bangladesh—and around the world—children are fighting for their chance to succeed in life. Their opportunity to succeed personally, academically, and professionally is limited by the socio-economic condition of their families. Millions of children in Bangladesh are denied high-quality education as a result of an inequitable system.
Since 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has deepened challenges for our education system, keeping schools closed for 18 months. During this time, most children were disconnected from learning opportunities. Addressing learning loss, dropouts, and children’s socio-emotional well-being are among some of the most complex challenges facing educators and leaders today. The growing crisis in education—and the opportunity to make a difference—is now bigger than ever. Together with our partners, Teach For Bangladesh (TFB) is working to ensure that children across Bangladesh can access high-quality education and unlock their potential.
Our approach is contextualized for Bangladesh from a globally proven, data-driven, innovative model implemented in 60+ countries.
Our work directly aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 4: “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.”
TFB is embedded within the education sector of our country, working directly in partnership with school leaders, local and national government, and the broader education ecosystem.
We have more than 10 years of experience in building and delivering on long-term partnerships that positively impact students and communities while meeting our partner’s needs.
TFB is Deutsche Post DHL Group’s GoTeach partner in Bangladesh, working with DHL Bangladesh since 2015 to build employability skills, confidence, and awareness among Bangladeshi youth with school-based engagements that span the academic year. Our ‘Empowering young minds to save lives’ project with DHL won the Best Education Award at the Asia Best CSR Practices Awards in 2017 for “outstanding efforts in educating students on how to keep safe on the roads and in times of natural disaster.”
Launched in 2020 during nationwide school closures, our Empowering Students for Online Learning (ESOL) program with the Internet Society Foundation enables Internet-based learning in marginalized communities over low-cost smartphones. ESOL takes a community-based ecosystem approach that promotes mobile Internet use for learning, building knowledge, skills, and behaviors of children, teachers, and parents to enable learning.
