Teach For Bangladesh’s Impact from Fellowship

The Teach For Bangladesh Fellowship is a two-year, full-time leadership development program that places bright graduates and professionals in underserved schools to teach and inspire. Fellows work at the grassroots level to improve student learning outcomes, promote socio-emotional development, and drive community initiatives around health, hygiene, and climate awareness. Since its inception, the program has reached over 117,000 students across 64 schools. Alumni go on to become leaders in education, policy, and social impact, driving long-term change for equity in Bangladesh’s education system.

Community Engagement

Community engagement is a vital pillar of the Teach For Bangladesh Fellowship Program. By building trust and deep relationships with students’ families and local stakeholders, Fellows gain a holistic understanding of the challenges that impact learning. Through initiatives like parent workshops, student-led projects, and local partnerships, Fellows mobilize communities to become active participants in education. This collaboration not only enhances student outcomes but also fosters a shared sense of responsibility and collective action, creating lasting change beyond the classroom.

Foundational Literacy and Numeracy

Foundational literacy and numeracy are core focus areas of the Teach For Bangladesh Fellowship. Fellows work in under-resourced classrooms where many students lack basic reading, writing, and math skills. Through targeted instruction, remedial support, and creative, student-centered strategies, Fellows help children build essential skills that form the bedrock of future learning. By addressing these gaps early, the Fellowship empowers students to thrive academically and confidently engage with the world around them.

Socio-emotional learning

Socio-emotional learning (SEL) is a key component of the Teach For Bangladesh Fellowship, recognizing that emotional well-being is essential for academic and personal success. Fellows create safe, inclusive classrooms where students build self-awareness, empathy, resilience, and positive relationships. Through daily routines, reflective practices, and student leadership opportunities, Fellows nurture confident, compassionate learners who are better equipped to navigate challenges in school and life. This focus on SEL not only enhances student outcomes but also fosters stronger, more supportive school communities.
