Millions of Bangladeshi children today are denied a high-quality education by an inequitable system that continues to perpetuate the status quo. At Teach For Bangladesh, we believe that systemic inequity of such scale, complexity, and tenacity has no single solution. Making equitable and excellent education a reality for all children will require interventions from diverse sectors of Bangladeshi society over a prolonged period of time.

Our Fellowship model seeks to develop a generation of leadership inside and outside of the school ecosystem committed to creating change and translating innovation and evidence into practice and policy. We support lifelong personal and collective leadership of TFB Fellows and Alumni, enabling broad cooperation among people from different backgrounds united by a common purpose.

Rasel Sardar

Instructor (General)
Ministry of Primary and Mass Education
Cohort 2019

Meet Md. Rasel Sarder, a 2019 Teach For Bangladesh (TFB) alumnus and the first from the network to be appointed as a Primary Teachers’ Training Institute (PTI) Instructor under the Ministry of Mass Education. Based in Gopalganj, Rasel is now training over 180 primary teachers, embedding lessons from his Fellowship into the national education system.

Rasel began his journey with a Bachelors and Masters from the Institute of Education and Research, University of Dhaka. He joined TFB as one of the first Fellows placed in Chattogram, teaching at Dakkhin Pahartoli Oli Ahamed Government Primary School. After the Fellowship, he took on key roles at JAAGO Foundation before entering government service, driven by his belief in systemic change.

“The Fellowship made me realize the importance of working within the system to drive long-term change,” he shares. Today, he incorporates TFB’s tools—like the 6 Classroom Basics—into his PTI sessions, receiving overwhelming positive feedback from teachers.

Rasel also contributed to developing a national teacher training manual, integrating TFB strategies into official resources now used across all 67 PTIs in Bangladesh. His journey is a powerful example of how TFB alumni are transforming education from the inside out.

A Note from Sakeef Mahboob, President of the Alumni Association

“My journey at TFB began in 2015 with the second cohort of TFB Fellows. Today, I am humbled to be the President of Teach For Bangladesh’s Alumni Association. TFB Fellows go through transformative journeys that impact students, surrounding communities, and ultimately themselves. While each Fellow’s experience will be unique, the Fellowship encourages every Fellow to make choices that will support their communities for years to come. Becoming an Alum is far from the end-it’s just the beginning.

Our growing family of more than 300 Alumni is diverse in upbringing, education, profession, and life experience. We believe the Association can tap into this diversity, turning it into strength. Our Association’s core mission is to empower Alumni with the conversations, opportunities, skills and network to contribute to the Teach For Bangladesh Alumni movement and build a better Bangladesh for all children.”
