Millions of Bangladeshi children today are denied a high-quality education by an inequitable system that continues to perpetuate the status quo. At Teach For Bangladesh, we believe that systemic inequity of such scale, complexity, and tenacity has no single solution. Making equitable and excellent education a reality for all children will require interventions from diverse sectors of Bangladeshi society over a prolonged period of time.

Our Fellowship model seeks to develop a generation of leadership inside and outside of the school ecosystem committed to creating change and translating innovation and evidence into practice and policy. We support lifelong personal and collective leadership of TFB Fellows and Alumni, enabling broad cooperation among people from different backgrounds united by a common purpose.

Almeer Ahsan Asif

Almeer Ahsan Asif is currently the Deputy Chief of Party for the USAID Bijoyee Activity, a CARE Bangladesh initiative that applies Positive Youth Development (PYD) principles to enhance local-led development in Bangladesh. This initiative actively engages a diverse group of 250,000 youths, prioritizing marginalized groups like ‘Not in Education, Employment, or Training’ (NEET) youth, those with disabilities, and indigenous youth. Almeer’s profound commitment to community development was shaped during his two-year tenure at the Teach For Bangladesh Fellowship. His work with underprivileged school children and their communities provided invaluable insights into the root causes of Bangladesh’s most pressing challenges. This experience fueled his determination to continue advocating for the less fortunate and marginalized. Almeer mentioned- “The Teach For Bangladesh Fellowship provided me with the platform and opportunity to be a proactive problem-solver rather than a passive complainer.” He also mentioned, the two years in the classroom opened up his eyes to the real problems of the community and gave him the opportunity to think beyond the box to find relevant solutions to societal issues.

Saifullah Al Azad

Saifullah Al Azad is the Deputy Manager, CSR at Olympic Industries Limited. His work enables him to protect and conserve the environment through effective interventions and sustainable future generations. Saif believes when it comes to protecting the environment, everyone should be educated and informed about the damages we are doing knowingly or unknowingly. “When we got the numbers on paper wastage, our jaws dropped. We realized the number could be cut to half if we started printing on both sides. With that realization, we started collecting invoices digitally”, said Saif. He knows the importance of education and how it helps everyone make better life choices. Saifullah applied for the TFB Fellowship after graduating from the Institute of Education and Research, University of Dhaka, to tap further into his passion for working in the education sector. Saif is an Executive Member of the Teach For Bangladesh Alumni Association.

Tahrima Hossain

Tahrima Hossain is the Project Coordinator of an education research project associated with Cardiff University and BUET, where she coordinates two research teams from two countries. Tahrima completed the prestigious Chevening Scholarship in September 2020 and is working to create a long-term impact in post-Covid education. She pursued an MSc in Education Practice and Innovation from the University of Southampton through Chevening. Tahrima says, ‘Chevening gave me the tools to pursue my passion, while Teach For Bangladesh taught me to dream big and persevere even in the most challenging situations.’ Tahrima, 2016 Teach For Bangladesh Alumna, came from a middle-class family in a small town where children do not dare to dream of going abroad for higher studies. Tahrima believes the Teach For Bangladesh Fellowship equipped her with the skills and knowledge that made her a strong professional and an effective educator.

Sadia has been selected for the Acumen Fellowship in Bangladesh for 2022! This opportunity will allow Sadia to showcase her leadership skills and bring her another step closer to solving the educational inequity problem in Bangladesh that she has addressed since 2016. Last year, Sadia was also selected for the Top 100 Leaders in Education Award. This prestigious award recognized Sadia for her significant contributions to education. Her passion for changing the education system and developing children’s reading habits led her to establish her organization, Grow your Reader, during her Teach For Bangladesh Fellowship. Grow Your Reader ensures quality education among children by creating a curriculum establishing teachers’ training facilities and library stations with 10,000 readers across Bangladesh. Sadia says, ‘every child is born with limitless potential, and the socio-economic conditions of their family should limit no child’s opportunity to learn or achieve.’
