Munia Islam Mozumder, Chief Executive Officer of Teach For Bangladesh, has been selected as one of 50 emerging leaders worldwide for the UNESCO Youth for Peace: Intercultural Leadership Programme 2025, becoming the only participant from Bangladesh.
The programme recognises leaders advancing intercultural dialogue, inclusion, and peaceful societies. Munia’s work has focused on expanding educational opportunities for children in communities affected by inequality and displacement.
Through the UNESCO-supported initiative, “Fostering Social Cohesion Through Intercultural Dialogue and AI-Enhanced Learning,” Teach For Bangladesh worked with government schools and host communities in Cox’s Bazar to strengthen social cohesion through dialogue, inclusive learning, and community engagement. The initiative reached over 2,200 direct participants, delivered 360 AI-supported learning sessions, conducted 700+ community visits, and engaged more than 1,100 parents.
Reflecting on the recognition, Munia shared: “Peace is built long before conflict begins. It is built through everyday interactions, through classrooms where children learn to respect differences, and through communities where people listen to one another.”
Her selection highlights Teach For Bangladesh’s commitment to advancing educational equity, social cohesion, and inclusive leadership in Bangladesh.
