Our flagship Fellowship program enlists highly talented graduates to spend two years teaching full-time in low-income schools. During that time, we train and support Fellows as they drive the academic and non-academic development of their students. The program also prepares Fellows to become lifelong leaders who will spearhead systemic change in Bangladesh, particularly in the education sector.

Position Summary

The Chief Program Officer (CPO) will provide strategic leadership across Teach For Bangladesh’s entire program continuum—recruitment and selection of Fellows, pre-service training, ongoing coaching and professional development, and post-program alumni engagement. Working closely with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team, the CPO will play a critical role in guiding the organization through strategic decision makings, enhancing programmatic coherence, and building institutional capacity. This role will be instrumental in preparing Teach For Bangladesh to scale its impact and catalyze collective leadership for educational equity.

The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in strategy, people leadership, and large-scale program management. They will have demonstrated success in driving complex operations toward ambitious goals and will serve as a key thought partner to the CEO, the Board, and external stakeholders. Major Responsibilities

Champion Innovation and Strategic Program Expansion

• Design and execute an innovative and ambitious programmatic growth strategy to strengthen the Fellowship, Training, and Alumni Leadership development.
• Work closely with senior leadership to develop and drive multi year  program strategy that ensures coherence, scalability, and long-term impact.
• Spearhead efforts to enhance program innovation and quality by engaging partners, stakeholders, and champions of education reform.
• Grow and strengthen programmatic capacity to sustain Teach For Bangladesh’s immediate priorities and future scale goals.
• Develop sustainable systems and processes to ensure the effectiveness, resilience, and long-term success of all existing and future programs.

Driving Excellence Across the Programmatic Continuum

• Manage and coach the functional heads of our Recruitment, Selection, Training, and Alumni Impact verticals and develop their individual and collective capabilities to lead their teams to successful outcomes. 
• Building high-performing teams, at the level of the team leaders listed above, and driving teams to deliver on the mission and vision of the organization:
  • The Recruitment and Youth Mobilization team to attract and mobilize high-quality applications to the Teach For Bangladesh Fellowship in order to meet the organization’s growth targets and  ensure that the most committed candidates make it through to the 2-year Fellowship. 
  • The Training and Support Team, internally known as the Program Team, to facilitate a high-quality training experience for Fellows and to continuously monitor and provide feedback on the impact our Fellows have in their classrooms. 
  • The Alumni Impact team to design and implement strategies to engage our Alumni and catalyze a broader movement for education reform across the country. 

Strengthening Cross-Team Collaboration and Data-Driven Impact

• Establish and oversee robust data and impact systems to ensure effective collection, verification, interpretation, and analysis of program outcomes; strengthen organizational capacity for evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Facilitate cross-team collaboration among program teams, including ensuring alignment across teams, optimizing strategies and resource allocation across teams, and sharing best practices

Senior Leadership Responsibilities

• Serve as a member of the senior leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy and decision-making.
• Represent TFB externally with authority to diverse stakeholders including the Board, donors, government officials, and global peers.
• Uphold and model TFB’s mission, culture, and values, while fostering collaboration and alignment across teams.

• Strong conviction that every child in Bangladesh, regardless of socioeconomic background, can learn and achieve high results
• Deep understanding of and alignment to our mission, vision, culture, and core values 
• Technical expertise in leadership development, curriculum, student impact, and classroom teaching-learning 
• Strong understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) practices to effectively measure and improve programmatic outcomes.
• Experience managing multiple layers, using strong management practices to effectively coach and build skills in others, and cultivating a positive team culture. 
• Able to effectively interact, work, and develop meaningful relationships with people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Experience in helping organizations develop and strengthen their systems and capacity
• Project management and organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple projects 
• Ability to see and communicate the big picture in an inspiring way to diverse stakeholders
• Ability to operate effectively independently and as part of a team in a high-intensity environment
• Ability to travel to Bangladesh; flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends

Educational Qualifications, Language Requirements, & Experience

• 8-12 years of progressively responsible experience
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from a reputable local or foreign university
• Postgraduate degree is preferred but not essential
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Proficiency in written and spoken Bangla useful but not required

Compensation & Other Benefits           

Salary is competitive in the Bangladeshi context. Benefits include festival bonus (2 per year), medical insurance, 24 days of annual leave (accrued over a year), 8 days of sick leave, and opportunities for training and travel (see below). Non-Bangladeshi individuals – particularly those with prior experience with one of the Teach For All partner organizations, either as a participant or staff member – are eligible and encouraged to apply for this role. Non-Bangladeshi hires would be eligible for one round trip air ticket from and back to their home country in each year of employment. Teach For Bangladesh will assist you in the process of procuring an appropriate visa and work permit. Please be advised that securing a visa to travel to Bangladesh can take up to a month so we encourage non-Bangladeshi candidates to apply well in advance of the deadline.
