About Teach For Bangladesh

Teach For Bangladesh (TFB) believes that every child in Bangladesh – regardless of socio-economic circumstance – deserves the opportunity for an excellent education. Our mission is to launch a movement of capable, committed, and compassionate leaders who share the vision of an equitable Bangladesh and are working tirelessly inside and outside the nation’s classrooms to expand educational opportunities for all children.

Our flagship Fellowship program enlists highly talented graduates to spend two years teaching full-time in low-income schools. During that time, we train and support Fellows as they drive the academic and
non-academic development of their students. The program also prepares Fellows to become lifelong
leaders who will spearhead systemic change in Bangladesh, particularly in the education sector.

TFB Alumni Vision Statement

As Alumni of the Teach For Bangladesh Fellowship, we know that every person is inherently powerful and that all people are worthy of love, dignity, and belonging. We know that all children – including those who were our students – have immense potential and that they are capable of learning and achieving beyond any limits set on them. We are connected by a common vision of a nation free of inequity that protects all children and nurtures their potential through a high-quality and holistic education system.

Our conviction in this vision and our sense of possibility pull us into powerful action. We are working to dismantle systemic inequity in education, and to ensure that all children have the teachers, schools, curriculum, and resources that meet their diverse needs. We put the wellbeing of children at the center – and are working to ensure their basic needs are met, including safety, housing, balanced nutrition, clean water and sanitation, healthcare, and protection from physical, sexual, emotional violence, and abuse.

We are working from inside the government, from non-government and civil society organizations, from development agencies, from our own startup ventures, and more. We know that we cannot achieve our vision alone. We are building and mobilizing a coalition of stakeholders, led and guided by the voices of our students and their communities.

We are resilient problem solvers, who think critically and innovatively when faced with adversity. We know that meaningful, long-lasting change takes sustained effort over time. We are learners, who treat every experience – especially setbacks – as an opportunity to grow. We invest in our Alumni collective, treating one another with kindness and empathy. We also lean on our collective, drawing strength and inspiration from one another. We lead by example and are committed to changing ourselves first in order to change the world. We lead with listening and love, holding space for our own healing and the healing of our nation.

Position Summary

Teach For Bangladesh is working to build leaders with the knowledge, mindsets, and skills to drive our educational system towards greater equity for all children. Once they have successfully completed our program and all of its requirements, Fellows officially become our Alumni. Alumni and their ongoing impact on educational inequity form a core element of our program model and Theory of Change. We expect our Alumni to spearhead systemic change within the education sector and across other industries, addressing not only the effects of educational inequity but also its root causes. As leaders, our Alumni will leverage:

Ultimately, it is through the collective impact of our Alumni that we will reshape the public, private, and development sectors, national discourse, and every part of the education system such that every single child born in Bangladesh can expect a high-quality education and equal opportunity to shape their futures.

The Associate, Alumni Impact will play a key leadership role in helping us achieve our vision for systemic change. S/he will work within the Program team to embed our Alumni vision into Fellow support from Day 1 and integrate the transition from Fellow to Alumni seamlessly into our program continuum.
